As we conclude the third week of school, I would just like to say how much I have enjoyed getting to know the students and to watch them engage in the teaching and learning process. I am slowly beginning to learn the names of each child, and some students even come up to me each day and ask if I remember their name. I think they enjoy testing me.
Last Friday, we held our first House Assembly of the year. During this assembly, each teacher introduced him or herself to the student body and then all students introduced themselves to me. When they finished, I praised them for their quick adjustment to school life and talked to them about what it means to be a good student.
Each Tuesday, we have our Flag Raising Ceremony. I am really inspired by this event for it is a wonderful teaching moment for all students. After the flag is raised, two grade 7 students share an important message to the entire student body. This past week, our message was on honesty- what it means to be honest, why honesty is important and how we can be honest people. This is a great opportunity for our oldest students to not only practice great leadership skills, but to be excellent role models within the school community.
As we head into the fourth of school, it is expected that all students will wear the school uniform. I ask that students wear their ties and that all shirts are tucked into their pants/skirt. The physical education uniform is only to be worn on days your child(ren) have physical education class. Lastly, we do ask that students wear black dress shoes, except for physical education class.
On Wednesday of this week, our receptionist, Ms. He, sent all parents via email information about our ECA program which will start on October 9th. If you did not receive this email, please contact Ms. He by email at email@example.com or by telephone at 8720 3280 extension 4201.
This is just a reminder that Monday, September 24 is a school holiday. School resumes on Tuesday, September 25.
Enjoy your family time this long weekend.
